Twitch Prime's newest service really doesn't matter if you're not an Amazon Prime member, so go sign up after you read this article. For video gamers, it's quickly becoming one of the best deals on the Internet.

If you don't own a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One you might not know about this, but every month Sony and Microsoft release free games to users who pay for the online subscription service. For example, Xbox Live's Games with Gold for March include two games for the Xbox 360 and two games for the Xbox One. If you own the latter, that's four free games a month since the free games are always backwards compatible. Sony does a similar thing for PlayStation (was the first to do this, actually), and console gamers everywhere love this system. I mean, who wouldn't? We're talking about free video games here. Sometimes you haven't heard of all the games, but sometimes you see big indie games like Superhot, which we'll come back to in a moment.

The thing is, PC gamers don't really have an equivalent. PC gamers have the convenience and the freedom to shop wherever they want and get their games from a multitude of sources. They also don't pay for a gamer's right to online multiplayer outside of MMORPG subscriptions. However, that also means there's no dedicated platform rushing to throw free games around every month... until now.

Twitch just announced that starting March 15, Twitch Prime will be giving away free games through a program with the subtle title of Free Games with Prime. If you're a Twitch Prime member, you will be able to download and keep a selection of games that changes each month. If you thought your Steam backlog was huge, you ain't seen nothing yet. The first five games include the previously mentioned time-stopping first-person shooter Superhot, the supernatural mystery game Oxenfree, the turn-based dungeon crawler Tales from Candlekeep: Tomb of Annihilation, the tactical stealth game Shadow Tactics, and the beat 'em up Mr. Shifty.

All of those will be yours to keep once Twitch Prime releases them for free, and then you can come back in April for five more games. Those games will be Tales from the Borderlands, SteamWorld Dig 2, Kingsway, Tokyo 42, and Dubwars. That's 10 games for free, and you don't have to give them back.

Considering you could be playing Devil May Cry HD for free right now thanks to Twitch Prime as well, that's a lot of free stuff.

Many of these games were voted on already by Twitch Prime users during the Indie Amplifier program, which voted for some of the best Indie games in Twitch's arsenal and rewarded the developers. Shadow Tactics was the winner of that program, but all eight of the finalists will be released for free over the next couple months.

Of course, if you're not a Twitch Prime member, this is a service that comes free with Amazon Prime. In addition to free games and free content for games you already play, like Fortnite, a Twitch Prime membership gives you a free sub to your favorite video game streamer and all the other benefits of Amazon Prime. You can also sign up for it here.
